Americana
Grounded in the history of North America, the Americana silver jewelry collection showcases the craftsmanship and traditional materials of Native North American tribes.
Our Concho Belt includes 16 sterling silver conchos and a butterfly buckle, each adorned with a garnet. While this piece was discovered in Seattle, Washington and showcases traditional Native American craftsmanship, the word “concho” comes from the Spanish “concha,” meaning conch or shell. Concho belts were often made by hammering silver dollars into flat discs and imprinting them with designs. While we're all about stress relief, we prefer to spend our dollars rather than to strike them. Nothing calms the soul like a new (or old) piece of shiny.

Two days in and too many miles up, we discovered our Turquoise Repoussé earrings during a trek through the Nepalese Himalayas when we stopped for a light meal of water and yak. The set features turquoise and sterling silver embellished with a metalworking technique called repoussé, in which metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side. While we felt a bit like hammered metal ourselves at the time, these piercings put us right back on solid ground. Blame it on the lack of oxygen, but we think they’re well worth your last piece of yak jerky.

Our Pewter Concho belt is a study in multinationalism. Featuring six large pewter conchos and a pewter buckle, this piece is a melding of European and Native American influences. The leather belt was made and discovered in Paris, while the pewter buckles were crafted in Italy from a design concept originated by the Navajo Indians. The elements blend seamlessly in a testament to great things can happen when we come together.

Our Leather and Silver Concho Belt is a stunning specimen of Navajo craftsmanship. Conchos are made from silver coins that have been stamped with a unique design. The Navajo learned the art of metal working from the Mexicans, and it is believed that the first concho belt was an adaptation of horse bridle buckles found there. This piece features 20 conchos and a buckle strung on a leather belt.

Made for the woman on wheels, our Barbed Wire bracelet is tough as nails, cold as ice, and willing to sacrifice everything but style. This piece was created in Mexico and discovered in New York. Like many Manhattan transplants, she's got the gritty charm that often arises when East meets (South) West. Stack with leather and lace, or go truly subversive and wear with pink. Who cares what they say? This piece will have you saying ‘sticks and stones may break my bones, but barbs and wire delight me.’

Our Buffalo Fetish (no, not that kind of fetish) is fashioned from sterling silver and inset turquoise, wrapped with a silver wire. “Fetishes” are small carvings traditionally made by Southwest Native American tribes that depict culturally important animals and icons. The Buffalo, or Tatanka, is a symbol of self-sacrifice revered for giving every part of its body, from bone to hide. To be honest, we’re not really ready for that level of selflessness. But then again, everyone needs a fetish. Get yours today.
